Head of the Russian Imperial House Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna gave an interview to the Ukrainian magazine “Schastie” (The Happiness).
Grand Duchess emphasized that she recognises the Ukraine as the part of her Motherland n the deepest meaning of this word, as well as all other parts of the former Russian Empire, at the same time Her Imperial Highness fully recognises independence of all new national states established at the territory of the former Russian Empire.
Grand Duchess answered the question about possible marriage of Her Heir Grand Duke Georgiy Mikhaylovich. Grand Duchess said that the main criteria in family life are love and respect. Future wife of Grand Duke shall understand the essence of his duty and help him to execute it. Grand Duke shall respect feelings of his wife and understand that the family is a big value, it doesn’t contradict to any social duties, but it shall be understood as inalienable part of whole life, support and defence for a human being.
The main social interests of Grand Duchess are connected with the questions of social responsibility and ecology.
Grand Duchess said in particular:
“The middle class is the basement of any state and society, nevertheless it appears in former Soviet republics with big difficulties. The polarisation with one polar of too rich men and another polar of millions poor people can be the cause of social shocks. The wealth itself is not a sin and is not a crime, if it was made honestly. Nevertheless, the people who were more successful than others shall understand their social responsibility.
The nature is a temple, given us by the Lord. At the same time we usually destroy and spoil it, not taking into consideration what will be left to following generations. For the purpose of our current convenience we doom the people of the next days to suffer and death. We become more vulnerable too, it is obvious if we remember about Chernobyl and Fukushima.
Both problems are connected with each other. Their solution is impossible without the Faith, without respect to the honour and dignity of the person, without spiritual responsibility. I see one of the main missions of the Imperial House to remind about this and to help people to unite at the base of love, friendship and solidarity in the situation of common threats.”
Grand Duchess herself is interested in development of the charitable activity of the Imperial House. In particular in the Ukraine Grand Duchess is interested to help restore the building of the oldest Orthodox church of Kiev built in X century by Grand Duke Vladimir the Saint.
